This weekend, IBF titleholder Caleb Plant makes the third defense of his title versus Caleb Truax. Caleb Plant has a record of 20-0 with 12 knockouts. He won the title in 2019 by defeating Jose Uzcategui by unanimous decision. Since then, he has successfully defended his title versus Mike Lee and Vincent Feigenbutz, both by TKO.
Caleb Truax is a former titleholder with a record of 31-4-2, with his last loss coming in 2018 to James DeGale. At age 37, Truax is looking to prove that he still has what it takes to be a force in the super middleweight division. He has proven that he can win a title fight and would like to walk out the ring a Champion again. Truax is stepping into the ring with nothing to lose.
Caleb Plant, on the other hand, has everything to lose. The Super middleweight division is currently topped by WBA and WBC title holder Canelo Alvarez, WBO title holder Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant. Canelo has made it clear that his intentions are to clean out the division and with talks of him fighting Billy Joe Sanders in May, Plant seems to be next in line. With Canelo being the widely acknowledged pound for pound king, an opportunity to step in the ring with and possibly beat Canelo, would change Caleb Plant’s life. A win versus Canelo, or even a good showing, can propel a fighter to superstardom. But that can only happen if Plant handles business versus Caleb Truax.
The fight will take place at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California and will air on Fox at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, 5:00 p.m. Pacific.
