Lebron James has already teased the idea of possibly buying the Atlanta Dream, now he has a potential partner, or maybe competition, who knows.
Renee Montgomery, who is actually under contract with the Dream, has thrown her name into the hat to potentially buy the Atlanta Dream from Loeffler.
Montgomery is sat out the 2020 season to focus her time and energy on social justice reform.
If you don’t know, Kelly Loeffler, the senator who just lost the Georgia run-off race to Raphael Warnock owns the Dream, despite this, her players were very vocal about supporting Warnock in the election. That was in response to Loeffler pleading for the WNBA to put an American flag on the jersey rather than messages about social justice.
It is worth noting that the Dream are not officially for sale. But that’s okay because Montgomery must first finish out her contract with the team and would not be able to employed by any other WNBA before she would be able to own the Dream.
So there’s time.
Montgomery is not new to the idea of owning a sports team, she currently co-owns the Beasts team in the new Fan Controlled Football League.
