Video: Aaron Rodgers Says He Doesn’t Care What You Think About Him Speaking on His Future

Aaron Rodgers was reportedly not happy with the Packers brass this past April when they used their first-round pick to draft a quarterback, Jordan Love instead of getting Rodgers some more help on offense, or maybe another piece on defense. In fact, the Packers did not draft a single receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft, a draft believed to be one of the strongest for the position in recent history.

Rodgers responded to the move of drafting his potential back up by posting MVP-like numbers this year and leading the Packers to a second consecutive NFC Championship game.

Now he is clamoring for the Green Bay Packers to pay up. Rodgers is reportedly demanding a new contract.

If you aren’t familiar with how the NFL works, Rodgers could be willing to sit out and not play if his wishes for a new contract are not met.

A-Rod is currently under contract through 2023, but he has no more guaranteed money left on his deal. In 2021, Rodgers made just over $23 million. That salary puts him behind QBs like Tom Brady, Jared Goff, Drew Brees, Jimmy G, Carson Wentz and Ryan Tannehill. according to Sportrac

Rodgers is under contract through 2023 after inking a four-year, $134 million extension ahead of the 2018 season. He will net $23.22 million in total cash in 2021 and $25.5 million in 2022 and 2023, which puts him behind quarterbacks Tom Brady, Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Drew Brees, Jimmy Garoppolo and Ryan Tannehill, according to Spotrac.

He completed a career-high 70.7 percent of his passes for 4,299 yards and 48 touchdowns (also a personal record) to just five interceptions.

Here’s what Rodgers had to say following the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship Game.

“[The Packers have] a lot of guys’ futures that are uncertain — myself included,” he said following the loss. “That’s what’s sad about it, most, getting this far. Obviously, it’s going to be an end at some point, whether we make it past this one or not, but just the uncertainty’s tough and finality of it all.”

Rodgers has been with the Packers since he was drafted in 2005, but might we have seen the last of Rodgers in a packers uniform?
