There is not much great to remember about Nick Saban and his short stint as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. However, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports dropped a story about the time Nick Saban almost got beat up by two of his Dolphin players.
Two stars on the team at the time, quarterback Daunte Culpepper and linebacker Zach Thomas, almost came to blows with their head coach.
Glazer, the NFL Insider was on the Colin Cowherd show discussing what it would be like for Urban Meyer, the new Jacksonville Jaguars head coach making the transition from college to the pros.
At the college level, Saban is known as a hard nose coach, who can have some tough ways, but those ways are proven to get players prepared to play at the next level, Meyer is viewed in the same light. But Glazer is here to let Meyer know, if you want to have success at the NFL level like you did the college level, you will not be able to speak to these grown men any kind of way.
“Nick Saban, the reason why he didn’t make it in the NFL, Daunte Culpepper tried to fight him one day and the security guy stepped in,” Glazer said. “And then I think his final straw is that he questioned Zach Thomas’ toughness and Zach almost kicked his butt. That just doesn’t work on this level.”
