Brett Favre Says He Never Noticed Black Players Struggling With Race Issues Back in The Day

Ignorance is bliss.

Black players in the 90s and early 2000s struggled with race issues, they just didn’t feel comfortable as they do speaking out about them, so I am not surprised Favre assumed there was no tension in the locker room. Black people especially in the workplace have to bury their feelings about certain things.

I am sure if you asked those players today how they felt about certain things they would have a way different answer than what Favre said about if he felt any racial tension in the locker room.

“Absolutely not,” Favre replied. “In fact, that was sort of our protected space if you will, where we could kind of let our guard down. We were in something together. We fought together. We won together. We lost together. And we truly were a family. So yeah, to answer your question we absolutely didn’t have issues.

“I don’t know what issues, if any, in the locker room that they’re facing now other than what I hear, or assumptions. So if there are problems within the locker room, you know, that’s too bad.”

“I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, ‘I don’t watch anymore. It’s not about the game anymore.’ I tend to agree. It’s a shame,” Favre said. “There’s always been differences and issues within the world, within the country, within our states. But something has to unify us. I felt like the flag and standing patriotically — because blacks and white and Hispanics have fought and died for this country. It’s too bad.”

The difference that Favre doesn’t want to acknowledge is that when the blacks and Hispanics came back to this country after fighting for it, they were treated like trash.

Just recently a black man in uniform was almost murdered by the cops for driving a nice car while black.

Favre just be quiet.
