Indiana Fever Shines In WNBA Preseason Opener; Defeats Chicago Sky 82-65

The Indiana Fever kicked off their WNBA preseason at Bankers Life Fieldhouse defeating the Chicago Sky 82-65.

On Sunday afternoon, the Fever set the tone with five players scoring in double-figures and head coach Marianne Stanley was pleased.

Fever Rookie Chelsey Perry and veteran Tiffany Mitchell combined for 32 points relying on their shot creation or open looks.

Perry shot 3-for-4 from the three-point line and allowed the game to come to her despite the defensive pressure in the second-half.

Victoria Vivians utilized her ability to drive to the rim at will scoring 12 points giving the Fever that spark to control the tempo of the game.

“I just kind of played to my strength. I took what was open and didn’t try to force a lot. I kind of tried to play within the team especially with this being our first game. If I was open…I shot the ball. If I was able to create for somebody else and myself… I did that,” Mitchell said.

The Chicago Sky top scoring leader was Kahleah Copper who scored 14 points during 19 minutes logged.

The Fever will play the Chicago Sky in their second and final preseason game before heading to New York for the season opener against the Liberty.
