In an ironic twist, Bauer and Tatis had a little professional beef about peeking at pitches and pitching with one eye, but it looks like they are connected off the field as well.
In ways neither of them probably want.
Mr. Bauer is on administrative leave by Major League Baseball. He has not been suspended. Administrative leave is neither a disciplinary action nor does it in any way reflect a finding in the league’s investigation after a woman said he went too far with their rough sex to the point she had to go to the hospital.
She has accused Bauer of assault and recently got a temporary ex parte restraining order against him which is filed in civil court without any corroboration. The woman’s statement is taken at face value without him being given an opportunity to respond. The accused is notified of the allegations and given a formal hearing – scheduled for July 23 – and the opportunity to respond and refute any of the allegations at that time. Bauer’s representatives confirmed they plan to refute and defend him against the allegations at this hearing.
The cops and MLB are investigating, but they just got a new piece of information. One of the accuser’s close friends have some forward with text messages and DMs that show things in a different light according to Radar Online who were able to verify the messages.
In the messages – obtained and reviewed by Radar – the alleged victim told the friend she allegedly had a past sexual relationship with San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis, Jr., saying she “cant believe I achieved that,” adding that it was the “best sex OF MY LIFE.” The woman alluded to that relationship being “the reason [she] had to resign from the pad squad!”
FYI the Pad Squad is an ambassador team for the Padres that helps people with the PETCO Park experience.
The woman went on to send the friend screenshots of Instagram DMs allegedly exchanged between herself and Bauer, noting that she was “going to his house” that week and “already [has] her hooks in,” adding, “you know how I roll.”
The woman told the friend she was “literally going to get in his head”… “and find pine tar.” She added, “trust me I know what I’m doing.”
The messages show the woman then responded to an Instagram Story posted by the friend showing a meme of Tatis mocking Bauer’s one-eyed pitching earlier this year, writing, “Ur welcome for getting in bauers head🤑,” with the money-tongue emoji. This message was dated April 24, which would have been after the first alleged violent sexual encounter the woman said she had with Bauer.
The friend at this point became suspicious of the motives since it didn’t seem like there was anything to suggest Bauer had did anything wrong to that point.
“That’s the message that sits kind of strange with me, just being that it’s after their first alleged encounter,” the friend told us, adding that they saw the woman in person shortly after the first alleged violent sexual encounter took place and said, “She mentioned that she had a great time and said something along the lines of – and I’m paraphrasing here – but something like he’s a nice guy and I had a great time. … None of which showed me anything to be concerned about or any signs of a victim being involved.”
It appears the woman at some point joked about how much money she was going to make being a baseball wife and that has made the cops skeptical.
There are some thoughts the accuser could be seen as a hooker.
The woman referred to PPD as “those corrupt f–kers” and said cops had interrogated her about “setting this up” and how she “joked about his amount of money and how I wanted to be a baseball wife.”
The woman accused the friend of “making this worse for [her]” and said “they are gonna lie and say that im a prostitute and all this crazy s–t. And I know they will bring up my stuff about tatis and clev and whoever.”
This is a really tricky case.
None of what the friend has put forward means that the accuser wasn’t assaulted, but it might make it harder to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
Bauer’s agents Jon Fetterolf and Rachel Luba released this statement to BSO.
“We continue to refute [the woman’s] allegations in the strongest possible terms and Mr. Bauer vehemently denies her account of their two meetings.”
While you are working through all these new details, flip the page for the text messages between the accuser and Bauer.
They are graphic.
