Last March, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, was arrested by U.S Marshals. This was due to him not registering as a sex offender in California. He was arrested by Beverly Hills police in November 2019 for not doing so either, and he still didn’t take the time to get this done.
Petty’s court dates were delayed several times due to COVID and now, details of what Petty plans to do in this case are surfacing. According to TMZ, he is taking a plea deal to get a lesser punishment in court.
Court documents state that the mandatory minimum sentence is five years of supervised release. The max sentence that Petty would face if he didn’t take the plea is 10 years in prison. He would also be slapped with a lifetime of supervised release. This plea deal could very well come with some prison time in the end, though.
Nicki and Mr. Petty have been married since October 2019. They initially went public in late 2018. A lot of people still don’t approve of their relationship, due to Petty’s criminal background. Petty is also a registered sex offender in his home state of New York. This case dates back to 1995, where he was convicted of first-degree rape.
