The end of September is usually reserved for a multitude of things in the sports world.
The NFL season is usually still ramping itself up, basketball and hockey are in the midst of their respective media days and preseason action, and soccer (football) is either winding down on the western side of the globe or seemingly getting started in Europe.
But the one sport that’s dragging itself through one of the more crucial stages of their season is none other than baseball here in the states, specifically Major League Baseball.
Playoff races are heating up, both in the American and National Leagues. The two wild-card spots are seemingly locked down in the National League, but the race there is between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers. Those teams are fighting neck and neck to win the NL West division and avoid the wild card game against the red hot St. Louis Cardinals.
In the American League, four teams are vying for the last two wild card spots. The New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, and the Boston Red Sox. The last team I mentioned, the Red Sox, recently finished a three-game set with the woeful Baltimore Orioles, but their performance on the diamond isn’t what we’re discussing here today.
It’s the behavior of one of the Red Sox fans that’s caught the attention of baseball fans everywhere and for the wrong reasons.
Flip the page to see a Red Sox fan spit on another fan for being called out for sitting in the wrong seat.
