The block got hot in Atlanta back in May as some footage surfaced reportedly showing Atlanta Dream All-Star Courtney Williams and teammate Crystal Bradford throwing punches with two other women. There are multiple people seen trying to break up the fight, including a teammate of Williams and Bradford’s Kalani Brown.
Williams posted the video from the fight as a joke, but after backlash, she took the video down, but it was already too late and circulating all throughout the internet. For damage control, Williams decided to go on Twitter to issue an apology for making light of the violent video.
“I want to sincerely apologize for the video posted yesterday,” Williams wrote. “I would never want to represent myself or the organization in a negative way. I’m learning every day, so I ask for grace as I’m growing. Again I apologize to all attached, and I will be better moving forward.”
The league hasn’t issued any discipline for the video, but the Atlanta Dream released their own statement criticizing Williams and Bradford’s action.
“The behavior in the video is unacceptable and does not align with our values as an organization,” announced the team in a statement. “We are taking this matter very seriously and working with the league to gather more information and determine the next steps.”
You have to be careful what you post on social media because it could come back to haunt it. If this were an NBA player, it would have been front-page news. It will be curious to see if they will be punished for it.
It will likely be a slap on a wrist.
What was on that food truck that had them throwing hands like that? It couldn’t have been over a pull pork sandwich, or could it have been?
