Tesla is finding out how much it cost when you’re racist towards employees.
Former employee Owen Diaz sued the company and won $137 million after he had to deal with racist treatment and a hostile work environment according to VladTV.
Diaz was a contracted elevator operator at Tesla’s plant in Fremont, California, where he says he was harassed and faced “daily racist epithets,” including the “n-word.” After a year of working at the plant, Diaz quit over the hostile work environment, which also included employees drawing swastikas on the walls and leaving racist graffiti and drawings around the plant. Diaz added that none of the supervisors at the plant stopped the incidents from reoccurring.
Diaz reacted to the judge’s ruling, telling The New York Times, “It took four long years to get to this point. It’s like a big weight has been pulled off my shoulders.”
I really hope more people start suing companies that have been racist towards them.
