Eli Manning during the Monday Night Football segment with his brother Peyton brought on many familiar faces to chime in on the Rams and 49ers.
Golden State Warriors forward and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Draymond Green joined the show and spoke a little on remembering who was drafted before him.
As the named flashed across the screen one caught the eye of Eli Manning.
Fab Melo.
Eli asked Green about the late Fab Melo’s career status who died in 2017 due to a heart attack at his home in Brazil.
Some people who aren’t big names tend to be thought of as someone still living and everyone had done what Eli’s done.
Rather Eli was preparing to set up a joke, good thing Green said in time, “God rest his soul.”
Come to find out that many people had no idea that Melo had died.
Fabricio Paulino de Melo (June 20, 1990 – February 11, 2017) was a Brazilian professional basketball player. He played one season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Boston Celtics before returning to his home country and playing for Liga Sorocabana and Brasília of the Brazilian Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). Prior to entering the NBA in 2012, he played two years of college basketball for Syracuse, where he was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore.
Melo died on February 11, 2017, at the age of 26. He was pronounced dead at home in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil; sources state that he went to sleep and was discovered dead the following morning by his mother. It was later discovered after an autopsy report the he had suffered from a heart attack.
I am sure Eli didn’t mean to be offensive, but it is one of things that when you are doing live TV that can come up from time to time.
RIP Fab Melo.
