The mother of the former NCAA basketball star Corey Manigault, Sothia Green, says his son ended up in intensive care after being brutally assaulted in Europe.
It’s reported that the former college basketball star Corey Manigault playing pro in Europe, was brutally assaulted after celebrating a victory with his friends.

Manigault, who played for the University of Pittsburgh and the University of New Mexico, now plays professional basketball in Cyprus. His mother, Sothia Green, received a call in the middle of the night that her son was hospitalized, WUSA reported on Dec. 3.
She didn’t know all the details but was told that after celebrating a win for a basketball game in Nicosia, Cyprus, Manigault and his friends went to a nightclub. He was assaulted outside the club, sustaining multiple injuries that included a brain hemorrhage and hematoma.
Manigault, 23, was in an intensive care unit from Nov. 21 to Dec. 1, but is now recovering in a neurology ward. He was intubated and sedated when Green arrived, unable to speak.
As he recovers, Green is distressed that her son, who was not accused of wrongdoing, is being treated unfairly and may not be getting the best care. “They have him restrained to the bed … in soft restraints,” she told WUSA. “I have not seen him stand. They’re saying that he was standing … So I’m not quite sure of who to believe and what to believe.”
The language barrier in the Greek and Turkish-speaking nation makes it all the more frustrating. “I don’t know where he was going … I’m still unaware of the events of what happened,” Green said, adding that she hasn’t received much help.
