Man Narrates Being Stuck Inside Aldi After Cashier Closed Store 15 Mins Early Without Checking For Customers Inside

An Oklahoma man has narrated how he got stuck inside Aldi supermarket after a lone cashier locked up and left for the night without checking for remaining customers 15 minutes before closing time. It happened in April 2020 and the video is currently viral on TikTok.

Via Daily Mail:

On Tuesday, he shared a video of the incident, revealing that he had to call the police — who in turn called the store manager — to free him and his fellow accidental prisoner after the only staff member on duty left them locked inside the store.

‘During the pandemic, Aldi closed early and the cashier neglected to make sure no customers were left in the store,’ he explained.

It’s unclear why there was only one employee on duty at the time, however it is possible that the store was experiencing staffing shortages amid the pandemic.

He went on to share several clips of himself in the empty store. ‘I just got locked in an Aldi. And they don’t close ’til like, nine o’clock,’ he explains as he pans to his watch — which shows that it was still only 8:45 p.m.

‘The cashier literally didn’t even check for customers before leaving,’ he added in the comments section. ‘I was waving at the casher at the window with the lights on in the store as I watched her drive away.’

The man showed a closeup of the door, which had a lock that he could have opened from inside — however, it would have set off the alarms and would likely have meant quite a bit of trouble for him.

‘I had to call 911 because the alarm was activated and I can’t get out. But I don’t have to worry about starving to death because there’s plenty of food and there’s also a bunch of alcohol,’ he said. ‘Can anybody hear me?’ he yelled into the empty shop, laughing. ‘I’m locked in an Aldi!’
