The Ben Simmons and Sixers saga has finally ended after months of trying to figure out what they would do.
The team never lowered their asking price and ended up with James Harden for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Andre Drummond, so they got a pretty good deal.
After the deal was done, Ben’s former teammate Joel Embiid posted one of the social media’s funniest memes which was a guy showing up to his biggest hater’s funeral. Twitter reacted as you’d expect, but Embiid downplayed it and said he just posted a guy he thought was wearing a nice suit, but we all know the NBA’s biggest troller knew what he was doing.
Embiid and the guy from the meme, Big Fendi, a music exec, met up at the All-Star game and took a pic together. Pretty cool moment, really.
If you are curious about who Big Fendi is, here is some more of his backstory.
Most people first thought, “Who is that?,” when Fendi, a longtime music industry mover and shaker, sat down on the couch next to Kimmy Blanco.
In a twist of irony, Fendi is credited with discovering Nicki Minaj after hearing music she posted on MySpace. After signing Minaj to his Dirty Money Records, the story goes that it was Fendi that brought Minaj to the attention of Lil Wayne and Young Money. On the now infamous The Come Up DVD that Lil Wayne spotted Minaj on, it was Fendi who was sitting next to her on the stairs.
However, sometime after Minaj brought on Waka Flocka’s mother Deb Antney to manager her before was replacing her current representatives Sean “Diddy” Combs and James Cruz.
Fendi is also known for managing Bed-Stuy Brooklyn rapper Jamal “Gravy” Woolard, who famously portrayed the Notorious B.I.G. in the biopic Notorious. Other artists he has been affiliated with over the years include current Bad Boy rapper Red Café, Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss, amongst others.
