This is weird. A dead body being displayed in a nightclub as a celebration of life for the late rapper Goonew? This was gross to some and the nightclub Bliss where Goonew’s deceased body was displayed has responded to the backlashes it’s receiving from concerned folks on the internet.
According to Vlad;
Previously, footage surfaced of an event being held in Washington, D.C. at Bliss Nightclub called The Last Show. The event was held as a celebration of life for the late rapper Goonew. The rapper’s send-off ultimately went viral after his deceased body was seen standing upright while wearing sneakers, jeans, a hoodie, and a crown. Bliss Nightclub began to face backlash after people called out the venue for allowing the rapper’s body to be propped up during what appeared to be a party. Now, the club has responded with a statement.
Bliss Nightclub went on to say, “Our deepest condolences to Goonew’s family, friends, and fans. Bliss was contacted by a local funeral home to rent out our venue for Goonew’s home-going celebration. Bliss was never made aware of what would transpire. We sincerely apologize to all those who may be upset or offended. Please keep Goonew’s family and friends in your prayers at this difficult time, respectfully.”
Just in case you were wondering how Goonew died, here are the details for that.
Rapper Goonew has been killed following a shooting incident in District Heights, Maryland. He was 24 years old.
The rapper, who was also known as Big Whizzle, died on Friday (March 18) after being shot. His death, which was confirmed to The Washington Post by his manager, comes nearly two years after he survived another shooting attempt in 2020.
Writing on Twitter after that, he posted: “I Ain’t Never Show This Pictures But July 5th Last Year They Told My Mother I Was Dead I Came Back… I’m Blessed & thankful I’m Still Here.”
It is not yet known if the two incidents are connected.
