For a brief second, it looked like Errol Spence and Bud Crawford would never happen when Spence lost concentration after losing his mouthpiece and caught a flush right hand from Ugas.
It took him a minute to get his barring together but when he did he battered Ugas’ eye and body in-route into a 10-round TKO.
After the fight, Spence was very clear on how who he wanted next.
“Everybody knows who I want next, I want Terence Crawford next. That’s the fight that I want, that’s the fight everybody else wants. Terence, I’m coming for that motherf***ing belt.”
Crawford who was commentating on Twitter heard what Spence had to say and responded like this.
Errol Spence Jr congratulations great fight now the real fight happens. No more talk no more side of the street let’s go!!!!😉🤝
Keep my belts warm I’ll be coming to grab them later this year.
Crawford is a promotional free agent so there shouldn’t be any problem making the fight. A 60/40 split and cut of the PPV profits seems very fair.
I think it is clear that Spence at the moment is the bigger draw and he also has three of the belts. Bud is going to have to bend a little bit to get the fight. He needs to give a little to gain a lot.
A win over Spence would mean that Crawford would have been undisputed in two-weight divisions. Crawford would also have a legit argument to be the #1 Pound 4 Pound fight in the world.
The question begs will Bud take an interim fight to help build the fight or will he just wait until the fall for the Spence fight. We shall see, but BSO sources have said that Bud and Al Haymon have met and the fight is going to happen at some point.
It is just a matter of when.
