TPS reports that former Buffalo Bills’ defensive lineman Alex Carrington was tased on Monday during an altercation with the police over a loaded gun. His mugshot has already been released.
Alex Carrington has been booked on two criminal possession of weapon charges, resisting arrest and driving under the influence.
Arresting officers state they pulled Carrington over early Monday morning for speeding and driving without headlights. Cops then suspected Carrington was drunk and asked him to get out of the car.
Carrington would not comply with that order. Things only got worse as cops claimed to have seen a gun magazine in the driver’s side door. Soon afterwards, Carrington tried to restart his car and flee the scene. That’s when cops used a taser to get him out of the car and in handcuffs.
After Carrington was tased and handcuffed, cops say they found a loaded Glock 17 “hidden underneath his leg.” He faces two criminal possession of weapon charges, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.
Here are a few NFL details about Alex Carrington.
The third-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills spent six years in Buffalo before his career came to an end after the 2015 season. He had 61 tackles and four sacks in six seasons.
The good news is they didn’t kill him.
They used the taser instead of the gun. Usually, when they see a gun and someone trying to flee, they shoot and try to cover up the murder later. Carrington is fortunate to be alive today. One always has to wonder why someone is driving around drunk with a loaded pistol in their possession.
It is challenging for ex-NFL players who go back to anonymity after their playing career is over. If Carrington has some sort of mental health issue, hopefully, he gets the help he needs.
