Here is a little stat for you.
Sam Howell of North Carolina ran the ball 183 times for 828 yards.
Malik Willis ran the ball 197 times for 828 yards.
One of those players was just called a running back, and it wasn’t the white one.
Here is what I will never understand from the “draft experts” or media people in general. Why can’t they talk about a black NFL QB prospect without mentioning running back?
In 2022, they have to know the racial undertones of that. They have to understand how the general public will perceive that. They have to know whatever else they are trying to say about the prospect will be ignored because they have said such an insensitive and racist trope.
That is fine if you want to say that Malik Willis is a second or third-round pick. If you’re going to say you think he will be a bust, that is fine. If you want to say he will need time to develop, there is nothing wrong with that.
But don’t question his intelligence or say he is a running back. Pete Prisco has been in the game too long to pull something like this.
Instead of apologizing, he doubled down when talking to fellow reporter Doug Farrar.
You think you are so football smart, but the reality is you are Twitter smug guy who follows the group-think cult. If you think that kid is a first-round QB, you need to see the eye doctor. He is a developmental player with a big arm. 2nd round pick.
The problem once again isn’t saying you think he is a second-round pick. The problem is calling him a running back.
Instead of doubling down, Prisco should apologize. He knows the way he worded his opinion is wrong, but it seems he is too prideful to say that.
Flip the page for the terrible take from Prisco calling Willis a running back.
