Rihanna has opened up about putting her baby daddy A$AP Rocky in the “friends zone” and how he broke out of it and became her boyfriend. The couple is expecting their first child together after a few years of being together.
According to Rihanna, she and A$AP Rocky first met during her VMAs performance of “Cockiness” and the rest is now history via Vogue;
The singer noted she and Rocky first met during her VMAs performance of “Cockiness,” where the Harlem rapper surprisingly gripped her butt. “He grabbed my a** on stage. That was not part of the rehearsal! I was like, What are you doing!?” said Rihanna. She continued saying she was shocked but let the situation slide. From there, they began a friendship over the course of 10 years, with Rihanna saying, “People don’t get out of the friend zone very easily with me. And I certainly took a while to get over how much I know him and how much he knows me because we also know how much trouble we can land each other in.”
Their relationship blossomed following the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the two planned a road trip from Los Angeles to New York on a massive tour bus. The singer said, “I love the simple things and the grand adventures. There’s no pretentious my-brand-your-brand bullshit, it’s just us living. I just feel like I can do any part of life by his side.” She recalled an instance when she grilled food for them while Rocky tie-dyed t-shirts from the gas station.
When speaking about the pregnancy and if it was planned, Rihanna said “I wouldn’t say planning. But certainly not planning against it.” She concluded by saying “I don’t know when I ovulate or any of that type of shit. We just had fun. And then it was just there on the test. I didn’t waste any time. I called him inside and showed him. Then I was in the doctor’s office the next morning and our journey began.”
Rihanna is almost due and her fans cannot wait to hear news of her safe child delivery. Note, when you are being friended zoned, just hit up A$AP Rocky for tips on how to break it out.
