The QB Jason Stewart has been cut by the Controlled Football League for going to the extreme and celebrating a touchdown by smoking a joint on the field. The video went viral last week with a bunch of reactions from Twitter folks.
According to Fan Controlled Football, Jason violated the league’s policy and as such, Zappers had no option but to cut him via TPS;
Stewart made headlines last week when he celebrated a touchdown by sparking up a joint along the sidelines, taking a few puffs, and handing it off to some fans before yelling to the camera, “Blaze up my friends, blaze up.”
Some may have figured that Fan Controlled Football would look past this incident, as they’ve promoted their acceptance of marijuana in the past.
However, the league still does not condone the use of marijuana in states where it is not legal. And the game just so happened to be in Atlanta, where Georgia’s laws still consider the drug to be illegal.
As such, the Zappers had no choice but to cut their quarterback. Fan Controlled Football released the following statement on the matter:
“Jason Stewart was cut from the Zappers for violating league policy. While the FCF fully supports player’s responsible use of cannabis, unfortunately it is still illegal in the state of Georgia and is banned by our venue and hotel property partners – so our policy of not allowing smoking at these sites is well known by all of our players.”
This was a hater move.
How are you going to say you support the weed and he didn’t violate the league’s policy but cut him anyway because of state law. If Georgia had a problem with it they should have arrested him on the spot. Weak sauce by the fan-controlled football league. They wouldn’t have cut Johnny Manziel.
