Sean Paul has opened up about what Beyonce told him over wild rumors that they dated while recording ‘Baby Boy’ and according to him, she said “these rumors f*** with my career”. According to Sean, he wishes he had dated Beyonce back then because she’s beautiful.
According to TJB;
During a recent interview, the 49-year-old dancehall/reggae singer reflected on working with the 28-time Grammy Award winner for her 2003 song “Baby Boy.” Despite speculation over the years, Sean Paul, 49, confirmed that his relationship with Beyoncé, 40, was nothing but professional when they collaborated together. Sean Paul said he had always admired Beyoncé during her time with Destiny’s Child, so he was elated at the opportunity to work with her. He explained,
“I’d always admired her music and she’s beautiful. So, when I heard Beyoncé was stepping out on her own and wanted me to do a single, I was like ‘Hell f**ing yeah.’”
When asked if the two ever dated, Sean Paul said,
“Nah! I wish I did! She’s beautiful.”
Sean Paul probably wouldn’t have let things slide if Beyonce had made a move on him.
Sean Paul revealed that Beyoncé confronted him about the dating rumors. He claims the “Formation” singer pulled him aside when the two performed together at the MTV Europe Music Awards in November 2003. He explained,
“She was pissed and was like ‘I need to speak to you,’. So, we go back and talk and she’s like ‘What’s all these rumors about?’ and I’m like ‘Yo, I’m not saying s**t,’ and she’s like ‘These rumors f**k with my career. I just want you to know that.’”
The “Dream Girl” singer said the romantic rumors may have even affected his working relationship with Beyoncé. Sean Paul alleges that he was inexplicably cut at the last minute from a planned performance of “Baby Boy” at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2003. He said,
“I’m sitting there in the crowd with my present wife and Paris Hilton is sitting in front of me. Beyoncé is coming down the stairs singing the song and Paris Hilton turns to me and goes ‘Why aren’t you up there?’ It was embarrassing and weird.”
After the alleged snub, the two went to Washington D.C. where they were set to perform the song once more — before Sean Paul called it off at the last minute.
“I went there, did my show, and then waited around for a while. And I got pissed off. They were like ‘There are 3,000 influential people waiting out there for you to do it.’ And I was like, ‘There were 50 million people watching the VMAs. I’m not doing it.’ And I left.”
This was PRIME Beyonce. The streets are saying Jay Z was the one who made sure she didn’t get too close to Sean Paul. If you notice they are never together in the music video.
