Roger Goodell To Appeal Deshaun Watson’s Six-game Suspension And ‘Significantly’ Increase it

Deshaun Watson was handed a six-game suspension by retired federal Judge Sue L. Robinson on Monday but according to reports, Roger Goodell and the NFL aren’t satisfied with the suspension and will appeal the suspension and significantly increase it via TPS;

According to a recent report, Roger Goodell and the NFL want to see Watson’s suspension increase significantly.

“Multiple league sources and legal experts predict that the NFL will exercise its right to file an appeal within three days and that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will significantly increase the punishment levied against the three-time Pro Bowl passer that included no fine,” said Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network.

Goodell is in a spot that will earn him criticism whatever he does. The NFL didn’t get what it wanted from Robinson’s ruling and punishment.

She described Watson’s actions as “egregious,” termed his behavior as “non-violent sexual conduct,” mandated him not to receive massages from anyone except team-approved personnel and imposed other behavioral expectations.

During a three-day hearing in June, the league pushed for a full-season suspension that would have seen Watson sit out more than 2.5 years by its conclusion.

If the NFL appeals, the final decision rests with Goodell.

If Goodell does this, Watson likely will sue the league.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, should the league appeal Robinson’s ruling of a six-game suspension, Watson and the NFLPA would file a lawsuit. Such a move could result in a temporary restraining order, which would delay any punishment for Watson, potentially making him available to play at the start of the 2022 NFL season.

“I’m told if the NFL does appeal this, that Deshaun Watson’s side will be filing suit against them to question the authority of Goodell to do so,” Darlington said on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Tuesday. “If that were to happen, we’re talking about injunctions, all sorts of legal processes that ultimately could delay this suspension. So there’s a bunch of complicated things out there. I’m not saying he wins or loses the case, but there’s a bunch of scenarios right now that puts the Cleveland Browns when they’re assessing what’s going to happen with their quarterback into play in many different scenarios.”

Watson would eventually lose but could possibly drag it out for the entire year.
