Mark Cuban Says That Delonte West Is Still Struggling With Addiction

Mark Cuban is here with a wild revelation about Delonte West. According to him, he’s still battling addiction and struggling to be on the right path. It’s never easy doing away with addiction. TMZ Sports got more;

The Dallas Mavericks owner told TMZ Sports out in NYC this week that he’s been keeping in contact with his former player … and, sadly, he said West is continuing to fight to get healthy.

“It’s a struggle for him,” Cuban said. “I mean, addiction is awful. And mental illness is awful. He’s at the point in his life where he’s got to want to be helped.”

West has battled substance abuse issues in his past — and has been spotted panhandling in the streets several times in the last few years.

But, back in 2020, Cuban helped him check into a rehab facility. And, this past June, West landed a flooring gig — and appeared to be getting back on his feet.

Cuban, though, said West still has a long way to go.

“You know, he’s got to want to help himself first,” Mark said. “I’ve tried. I know it’s tough on him, but I wish him nothing but the best.”

West played for four franchises during his 8-year NBA career … including Cuban’s Mavs from 2011-2012. He played his last pro basketball game with the Mavericks’ G-League team, the Texas Legends, in 2015.

Here is the latest from Delonte.

First, the youngster asked if West was in 2K and then the ex-guard proceeded to tell the kid to keep working hard and he can be just like LeBron James and any other star in the NBA. Some kind words from West.

Then, the mother of the boy asked why his family hasn’t taken care of him and Delonte West basically said he made sure they were all comfortable when he was making the big bucks but he never asked for anything in return.

To make matters worse for West, he revealed a couple of weeks ago in a conversation with a content creator that he’s dealing with mental health problems and even forgets sometimes that he played in the NBA.

“I suffered from mental health, you know,” West said. “I got early stages of the mess. I’m just losing my thoughts, man. … Sometimes I forget I even played basketball.”

All we can do is pray for Delonte West at this point. It’s truly a bummer he’s not playing the game anymore.
