Sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson Says Stop Complaining Over Jerry Jones’ 1957 Photo of Him Not Allowing Black Kids Into His High School

Sha’Carri Richardson is coming through for Jerry Jones following severe backlashes over a photo of him trying to stop some Black students from entering the high school in 1957.

According to TPS;

There is a ton of outrage online after a photo surfaced showing Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones being part of a group of white students confronting Black students outside North Little Rock High School. The photo was brought to light this week in a Washington Post article that details that day and analyzes Jones’ role in bringing diversity into the NFL.

The photo shows a group of Black students trying to integrate classes at North Little Rock High School when Jones was a 15-year-old sophomore.

Little Rock was at the center of the civil rights movement at the time, and Arkansas schools were desegrated soon after the photo of Jones was taken.

Track star Sha’Carri Richardson, who was born and raised in Dallas, had an interesting take on the photo as she noted that if so many people are still going to support his team, why even complain about the photo online?

“There’s a lot of talking about this but If Y’all still gone support then what’s the point of complaining?

The Post article also raises questions about why Jones has never hired a Black head coach. Jones acknowledges in his interview that racial change in the NFL’s coaching ranks has come slowly and when it comes to diversity, he wants to be the “first in line.”

At the time the photo was taken, Jones said he wasn’t trying to stop the Black students from entering the high school. He said he was only he would get in trouble with his football coach who had warned players not to be there.

I don’t think we need Sha’Carri to give us social commentary.
