Adam Schefter Pranks Social Media By Saying Lamar Jackson Going to Commanders

If you’re a Washington Commanders fan, I promise you nobody will fault you for being annoyed, irritated, or even angry with Adam Schefter right now. Quite honestly, it’s little wonder why Schefter is generally hated on some parts of Twitter.

For those that don’t yet know, Adam Schefter was a guest on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” Podcast this week. Schefter stated that talks between Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and the Washington Commanders were “starting to heat up”. The clip was later posted by a Shannon Sharpe Burner Account– which is pretty well known on NFL Twitter. The post went viral, and got many Commanders fans excited about having arguably the best QB in the NFC East.

Until it was discovered that it was all just a prank on Adam’s part. If one stops to think logically for a moment, Schefter’s report didn’t make sense from the start. The Commanders were never linked to Lamar Jackson at any point of the off-season. The only, thus far, that’s been linked to Lamar via trade is the Atlanta Falcons.

That would’ve been a little more believable, considering the fact that they just released Marcus Mariota. The release of the veteran quarterback not only saves the team $12 million in cap space, but also gives them over $65 million in cap space to spend according to Steve Wyche.

As a Saints fan, seeing his “prank” pulled at the expense of Falcons Fans would’ve given me a chuckle. As a fan of football as a whole, it’s still a little distasteful. Schefter is a prominent figure in the NFL world, whose broken a myriad of blockbuster news over his career. But he’s also been wrong plenty of times, with some notables like pre-maturely announcing Tom Brady’s retirement before the man himself can even speak on it.

Those who hold power must use it responsibly, I believe. Schefter is no exception.
