Nearly 24 hours ago, the Miami Hurricanes pulled off an incredible upset that had the college basketball world talking.
Miami knocked off No. 1 seed Indiana in the NCAA Women’s Tournament thanks to some clutch shooting from Haley Cavinder. Earlier this afternoon, the Cavinder twins celebrated their victory with a post on Instagram.
While Haley helped the Hurricanes advance, Hanna stole some headlines this afternoon as well. After the basketball world flocked to their respective social media channels, one of Hanna’s photos started going viral.
Celebrating St. Patty’s Day a bit early, she was decked out in a green swimsuit.
She had to celebrate a bit early so she and the Hurricanes could focus on getting the win – which they did.
Now their Cinderella run will continue against No. 4 Villanova.
The Cavinder twins have had the internet going nuts.
The Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball team saw its star players, Haley and Hanna Cavinder, at the center of the NCAA’s first NIL-related investigation. The Cavinder Twins were reportedly being investigated, along with their team booster John Ruiz, for alleged NIL infractions. Neither the twins nor Ruiz will suffer penalties in exchange for Hurricanes coach Katie Meier serving a three-game suspension.
Friday’s ruling officially marked the end of an investigation that had the girls under center, which spanned over several months. Close to a full calendar year. Still, that didn’t stop the twins from posting a video in response to the NCAA’s ruling, publicly voicing their discontent. Haley posted the video to her official Twitter account, and tagged her sister in it.
“Dear ncaa, scared that female athletes have value? let’s hoop tho.. #GoCanes @CavinderHanna,” Haley said. Additionally, tweet also included a video with the twins along with the caption, “BFFR NCAA..”
