Rashod Bateman Goes Off on Ravens GM Eric DeCosta For Saying Their WRs are Busts

The Baltimore Ravens wide receiver group constantly shoulders the majority of the blame for why the Ravens’ offense struggles to succeed in the Lamar Jackson era. Unfortunately, it looks like they’re not safe from even their general manager. According to Sarah Ellison, Eric DeCosta made it clear that the receivers they’ve drafted haven’t been good enough for reasons he doesn’t know. Sarah posted his full answer on Twitter:

“There have been some guys that have been successful players for us that were draft picks. We’ve never really hit on that All-Pro type of guy, which is disappointing, but it’s not for a lack of effort. … It’s one of those anomalies that I really can’t explain, other than to say that we’re not going to stop trying. “

Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman has had enough of the disrespect he and his fellow receivers have been shown. Bateman was one of the best wide receivers in the 2021 NFL Draft class; the man was taken first round out of Minnesota. He fired back at DeCosta in a quote retweet:

“how bout you play to your player’s strength and & stop pointing the finger at us and #8 …blame the one you let do this…. we take heat 24/7 . & keep us healthy … care about US & see what happen..ain’t no promises tho … tired of y’all lyin and capn on players for no reason”

It’s evident that Bateman believes the lack of receiver production is not on them, but rather it is a product of the system that Greg Roman implemented. The lack of care for the receivers was obvious enough, but seeing it come directly from a player’s mouth only further cements the talking point. This lines up with what RGIII said back in May regarding why he believes Marquise “Hollywood” Brown wanted out of Baltimore. Brown was traded mid-season to the Arizona Cardinals.
