The Lakers are getting ready for their Western Conference Semifinals matchup against the Warriors right now but that doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking about free agency a little bit.
The players for the most part are mainly thinking about the games ahead but the front office is probably thinking about the current free agents on the team and putting a plan in place to try and sign the guys they want in the future.
One person who was said to be on their radar is Kyrie Irving. Kyrie was linked to the Lakers before getting traded to the Mavericks. His tenure with the Mavs didn’t really go as planned and no one really knows where he will be next season.
Lots of people think a reunion with LeBron James is in the works but that may not be the case. According to The Athletic, the Lakers have no interest in signing Kyrie this summer. They can keep most of the guys they currently have and make a run at things next season or try to sign someone else. If they signed Kyrie, it would also come at the expense of the depth they built up to get to this point.
Neither thing would be surprising because losing depth at the expense of Kyrie to go with LeBron and Anthony Davis could be worth it but with the injury history of those two it might turn to bite them in the butt.
