Michael Jordan does not joke with his money, his revolutionary sneaker deal with Nike is an example of how serious it is when money is involved. However, Michael did more than that as he made sure to take even his bet wins seriously back then.
Michael started betting way before his NBA career boomed, and betting became a close part of his career. According to a report, just as Michael was dedicated to betting, he took the wins so seriously that once his teammate Jack Haley lost an almost $17K bet to Jordan, he forced Jack to call his dad to come to pay the money. And the dad came to pay before he allowed peace to rain.
According to VladTV;
Michael Jordan’s gambling stories have been captivating fans for years, and as Sam Smith tells Jordan’s history on There Is No Next, another one has surfaced.
Smith spoke to former Bulls assistant Johnny Bach, who revealed that Jordan’s former Bulls teammate Jack Haley lost $17,000 to Jordan during a flight during a road game. Haley lost the money during a card game with Jordan, and when he couldn’t pay, Jordan knew who Haley could call.
Bach says that Jordan allegedly told Haley, “You call Daddy Warbucks now. Daddy owns a restaurant.” Bach added that Haley’s father met with Jordan the following morning to give him the money.
Afterward, Bach claims that Jordan told Haley, “Don’t f***ing play with me, Jack, if you can’t pay off. I don’t want your money, but you lost, and Daddy has to come with that money in cash.”
Jordan associated his notorious gambling problem with his obsession with winning. He loves to win, and every chance to prove that he is always a winner, he puts it into a bet. Rumor has it that the NBA legend’s sudden retirement from the NBA after a controversial Bull win has something to do with betting.
