New York Jets Selected To Be On Hard Knocks Ahead Of Training Camp

It’s lights, camera, action for head coach Robert Saleh, and the rest of the New York Jets.

The Jets, courtesy of the NFL and NFL Films, have been chosen to serve as this year’s team to be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks”. This news comes by way of ESPN’s own Adam Schefter, who broke the news on Twitter on Wednesday. With just one week to go before the start of training camp, the team now prepares to be in the face of multiple cameras. A scenario that Saleh would’ve preferred to avoid if it were up to him.

“I haven’t gotten word or anything like that. I know there’s several teams that would love for ‘Hard Knocks’ to be in their building, but we’re just not one of them,” Saleh said last month.

Among those eligible to have been potentially selected for Hard Knocks this year, other than the Jets, were the Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears, and the New Orleans Saints. Though they likely would have preferred to escape all the cameras, being plastered by the media shouldn’t be something foreign to this Jets team.

For starters, the Jets have been on Hard Knocks before—back in 2010. Additionally, the team has been in the media limelight since they reportedly were all-in on trading for former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. A premier date has yet to be announced, but if we follow recent history, Hard Knocks can be speculated to start in the month of August.

There is a lot of hype surrounding the Jets team this year, with some projecting them to make the NFL Playoffs. They are young all around, and hold both 2022 offensive and defensive rookies of the year in wide receiver Garrett Wilson and cornerback Sauce Gardner. Their pass-rush is nothing to sneeze at, either, as it is anchored by DT Quinnen Williams. Williams put together a breakout year, and is looking to cash in on a career-high 12 sack season.

Time will tell if the Jets are the real deal or not.
