What Stephen Curry calls the emotional rollercoaster of winning the 2022 NBA Championship.
• In 2022, Curry attained a career high by winning the NBA Finals MVP for the first time.
• The Golden State Warriors player lashed out at his detractors while breaking down in tears
Most people believed the Golden State Warriors’ and Stephen Curry’s reign in basketball had ended before the 2021–22 NBA season. The Dubs missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons after appearing in five consecutive NBA Finals from 2015 to 2019.
Curry, though, guided the Warriors to their fourth NBA Championship in eight years in the 2022 postseason. After the team won the league championship in 2022, Steph sobbed on video.
Curry discussed the incident in detail during a recent interview with “Big Boy TV.”
Big Boy: “I noticed in the championship in 21-22, you cried like it was almost like your first one. Is there a reason why that one felt just as special? Was it the chatter that you heard, with being so great that it’s a gift and a curse?”
Stephen Curry: “We got so far away the mountaintop at a certain point with the injuries, the changing of the scenery, moving from Oakland to San Francisco, our roster changing, like you name it. … The fact that none of it was guaranteed but that was just a culmination of a three-year journey from game six of the 2019 Finals to game 6 of the ’22 Finals. That three-year journey was an emotional rollercoaster journey.”
Curry had a fantastic playoff run in 2022. Over the course of 18 games, he averaged 27.4 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 5.9 APG while inspiring the Warriors to an incredible championship run.
With 31.2 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 5.0 APG against the Boston Celtics, Steph also won the NBA Finals MVP award for 2021–2022. Curry helped the Warriors defeat the Boston Celtics in the best-of-seven series in six games.
Curry wishes to complete his career with the Warriors
Stephen Curry, who was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draught, has played for the Golden State Warriors his entire professional career. He has already played for the team for 14 seasons, which is unusual in the NBA of today.
Curry is 35 years old right now, so it’s not surprising that concerns about his NBA future have started to surface. The Warriors are where the four-time NBA champion wants to end his career.
Curry has established himself as a Warriors legend and still has plenty of stamina. Although he has no immediate intentions to leave the NBA, he wants to play his final game in a Warriors uniform whenever that time comes.
