Charles Oliveira will have his attempt at the lightweight title against Islam Makhachev in a rematch at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi. Having lost the first fight against Makhachev at UFC 280, Oliveira shall have his shot at redemption.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian star still has his aim at facing Conor McGregor at some point. Prior to a career-defining fight at UFC 294, Oliveira connected with Ariel Helwani on MMA Hour and spoke about several things.
He was joined by ex-UFC ring girl Luciana Andrade, who translated the former champion’s words for us.
When asked about the McGregor fight, Oliveira said, “I am just waiting for him. All he needs to do is tell me the place and the time and I will be there.”
“I think so (Conor McGregor is interested in the fight). Otherwise, we wouldn’t be talking.”
“I don’t know, I am here. Where’s Conor [McGregor]?
“170, 183. Doesn’t matter.”

Conor McGregor has previously teased a potential clash between him and Charles Oliveira on social media. That said, McGregor’s social media antics have targeted almost every other name on the roster, making Oliveira just one of the many.
It is still unclear whether the ‘Notorious’ will entertain ‘Do Bronxs’ anytime soon, especially when he is calling out BMF champion Justin Gaethje. Also, a potential fight between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor is in the works.

Conor McGregor vs Charles Oliveira Is Still Out Of Books
It is unsure whether Conor McGregor makes his UFC comeback this year. He is still to be tested by the USADA and will probably return to the cage in early 2024. It also remains to be seen which weight class McGregor selects to re-appear.
Charles Oliveira has a tough test ahead, but he looks optimistic about his chances. Following the loss against Makhachev, Charles Oliveira knocked out Beneil Dariush to re-begin his win track.
Meanwhile, Islam Makhachev struggled and had a tough fight on his first successful 155 lbs title defense against Alexander Volkanovski. The rematch between him and Oliveira fits at the perfect time.
