Conor McGregor Wanted Justin Gaethje Right After Fighting Donald Cerrone, VIDEO Resurfaces: “I Will Face Him Next’

Conor McGregor and Justin Gaethje are currently feuding all over social media, teasing a potential fight between them in the coming days.

Both men have had Dustin Poirier as their latest opponents. While McGregor suffered consecutive losses against Poirier at UFC 257 and UFC 264, Gaethje knocked out Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 to claim the BMF belt.

That said, McGregor had his eyes on Gaethje even back in 2020. Here’s a look at the video evidence.

Prior to facing Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, Conor McGregor clarified Justin Gaethje to be present in his hit list.

When asked about ‘The Highlight’, Conor McGregor said, “He [Justin Gaethje] is on the list. He is on the list. Maybe, I will face him next.”

“I mean, I just laugh at him. He is bleeding. He is a funny guy, he has been taking it very to heart. I know the feeling when you do that.”

Justin Gaethje is also close to earning a lightweight title shot. But Charles Oliveira will have his attempt first against current champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 294.

Justin Gaethje can look to face the winner of that contest. Meanwhile, a fight against Conor McGregor would still be his biggest payday. So, it makes sense for ‘The Highlight’ to face ‘Notorious’ McGregor.

Justin Gaethje Changed His Opinion On Fighting Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor called out Justin Gaethje right after UFC 291. However, Gaethje declined the callout in the media presser and accused ‘Notorious’ of steroid cheating. Per Gaethje, he would never fight a cheater and that’s what he tagged Conor McGregor to be.

That said, the American fighter seems to have changed his mind as he asked Conor McGregor to sign the contract. That said, Michael Chandler is still a valid opponent for McGregor. It remains to be seen whom Conor McGregor chooses to face from a list full of A-listers awaiting a lucrative payday.
