UFC President Dana White seemed interested in how the future of boxing superstars- Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford would look from here.
On his recent chat with Mike Tyson in the HotBoxin podcast, White shed views on how the rematch between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. should happen.
The UFC chief asked Mike Tyson about who the welterweight elites should fight now that they are done fighting each other, with Crawford coming out victorious. Mike Tyson picked up Jaron Ennis as a legitimate opponent for both men.
Tyson said, “He [Terence Crawford] needs to fight the [Jermell] Charlo guy or the guy from Philadelphia. ‘Boots’ Ennis ‘Boots’. He is an up and coming guy everybody’s talking about.”
“I think [Errol] Spence should fight him [Jaron Ennis] in order to get a rematch with Crawford.”
Dana White absolutely agreed with what Mike Tyson said and told what the UFC would have done in such a scenario.
White said, “That’s what I like. That’s what we [UFC] would do here exactly. Then you [Errol Spence] fights one of these guys, work your way back up to fighting Crawford. Plus, it’s another payday for you.”
Terence Crawford lopsidedly beat Errol Spence Jr. and conquered the undisputed welterweight status via a 7th-round TKO. ‘The Truth’ Spence Jr. was considered a fighter of a similar level to ‘Bud’ Crawford.
However, the in-rig scenario was very different from what many people had envisioned. Errol Spence Jr. took too much punishment but still wanted to lock horns with ‘Bud’ in a rematch. In an ideal case, he can opt for a tune-up fight before the rematch.

Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. Can Both Move Up
After his maiden career defeat, Spence Jr. has teased moving up to 154 lbs. He will be an interesting addition to the super welterweight category. Spence Jr. reigned on the 147 lbs division for a long time before surrendering to Crawford. Hence, he can aim at a new weight class next.
Meanwhile, Terence Crawford sent a call-out to Jermell Charlo who was ringside while he was already putting a beat down on Errol Spence Jr. at the T-Mobile Arena. That said, the potential rematch between ‘Bud’ and ‘The Truth’ can also happen at 154 lbs. As for Jermell Charlo, he is scheduled to meet Canelo Álvarez on September 2023 in one of the biggest fights of the year.
