Dillon Brooks is a very polarizing player.
It’s not a surprise. He’s a premier NBA defender and a lot of the time, he’s supposed to be a huge pest. And he does that well.
It all came to a head in the 2023 playoffs after his antics didn’t work against LeBron James and the Lakers. He pulled out all of the tricks trying to get into LeBron’s head whether it was talking about how old he was or trying to make him frustrated on the court.
It just didn’t work.
After the Grizzlies season was over, it was reported that the Grizzlies wouldn’t be bringing him back. Not too long after free agency started though, he signed a 4 year $80 deal with the Rockets.
Now, Brooks is speaking out on all of his antics, and contends that he always had him.
“I feel like I always had him. I feel like that series was thrown upon me cause of the words that I say, but I’ve been saying things all year and we won 50 games.”
He’s going to get a lot of criticism for the comments but that’s the type of mindset he has to have to be one of the premier wing defenders in the league. If his opponents know they have an edge on him, his job becomes a lot harder.
