Is Conor McGregor Returning Against Michael Chandler at UFC 296?

Conor McGregor looks likely to make his comeback in December against Michael Chandler at UFC 296. Although Dana White has shown fewer possibilities of McGregor’s return in 2023, the Irishman has reflected a different scenario.

Initially, he also admitted to walking out of UFC 296 PPV But has changed his tone on the same in his recent social media posts.

Turning to Twitter, Conor McGregor wrote, “December is back on the table!”

“Ready in both stances.”

UFC President Dana White is yet to comment on it, especially with no official announcement of Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler from the promotion’s side. A few weeks back, White claimed to be working on the fight for 2024.

In response, McGregor posted a voice clip on social media which said, “They’re not going to let me fight in December, ladies and gentleman.”

While the fight seems to be back on track for UFC 296, we can expect to see ‘Notorious’ in 2023 itself unless the fight talks change again. Michael Chandler has posted videos of his training session for the upcoming fight.

As per Conor McGregor’s previous claims from AJ vs Helenius fight, he is aiming at Michael Chandler, Justin Gaethje (BMF), and Nate Diaz as his next three opponents. That said, the Irishman has also desired to face Tony Ferguson in one of his recent tweets.

Conor McGregor Wants To End Tony Ferguson

Tony Ferguson could have been a career-defining fight for Conor McGregor a few years back. However, ‘El Cucuy’ may not hold any relevance to McGregor’s upcoming journey at this point.

Once an Interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson is now on a six-fight losing streak. Justin Gaethje handed Ferguson his first defeat after an impressive streak of 12 wins. Tony Ferguson then went on to lose against Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler, Nate Diaz ad Bobby Green.

While several MMA fans have asked him to retire, Tony Ferguson has hinted at remaining active So, Conor McGregor can actually validate a fight between him and ‘El Cucuy’.
