As long as basketball fans have even a passing interest in the sport, the GOAT controversy will continue. Basketball is one of the few sports that allows you to name a single player as the best. Michael Jordan was the answer for many years, but LeBron James is now frequently mentioned as the greatest player in the history of the sport. Austin Reaves, a member of the Lakers, has publicly sided with LeBron in the argument, claiming that Lebron James is the best player to ever play the game.
“Yeah, why not? You know, he came to LA at a time where you know, wasn’t having much success and what was it two-three years, you know, put a banner in the rafter, so why not? I mean, in my opinion, he’s the greatest player to ever play the game.”
Reaves has observed James in action firsthand and cannot deny the influence LeBron has had on his growth from an undrafted rookie to a Team USA player. Reaves was destined to start this debate representing Team LeBron because they get along so well. In the 2023 Playoffs, Reaves finished the season with averages of 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
"That's my guy. I've learned a lot from him in the past two years. It feels good when he kind of validates that you can actually play. It's been a special two years, and hopefully, we can go win a championship this year."

Does LeBron James Have Enough Achievements to Surpass Michael Jordan?
You can’t disregard someone who thinks LeBron is better than Jordan. We have never seen a player in the league have a career like James’s. Jordan had a fantastic prime, but because of his frequent retirements, he was never able to consistently outperform James throughout the course of 20 NBA seasons. LeBron’s main defense is his longevity, but I’m going to side with the Bulls legend Michael Jordan because of what he accomplished during his prime. T
he fact that MJ won Defensive Player of the Year and had six Finals MVP and championships, combined with 10 scoring crowns, indicates that he was possibly the most dominant non-7-footer the league has ever seen. Regardless, the contrast between the two is always fascinating. The goal for the 2023–24 season for LBJ is to win a fifth championship, adding to his long record of accomplishments.
