Sean O’Malley earned the bantamweight crown by knocking e-champion Aljamain Sterling out at the main event of UFC 292. The performance had several similarities to what Conor McGregor did against Jose Aldo back at UFC 194.
Similar to how Conor McGregor struck Also with a right hand and then followed it with hammer fists, Sean O’Malley’s right hand also put ‘Funkmaster’ on the canvas. Now that ‘Suga’ Sean is the UFC champion, he has revealed the chances of sharing a PPV card with Conor McGregor.
Detailing the DM he received from Conor McGregor, Sean O’Malley said, “Conor [McGregor] messaged me on Instagram for the first time yesterday. He said, ‘Baby we did it’.
“I said, ‘We sure fu**ing did’. Are you main eventing in December and I am co-main eventing?’
“All he replied was ‘Shot Caller’.
“I am hoping that’s a Yes in Irish.”
During the post-fight interview of UFC 292, Sean O’Malley called out Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera for a rematch at UFC 296 in December. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor has also verified his return to be happening in the same month.
Although UFC hasn’t announced the bout officially, McGregor’s social media posts cite UFC 296 to be his returning platform.

Who Will Conor McGregor and Sean O’Malley Face Next?
Sean O’Malley will defend his UFC bantamweight title next, possibly against ‘Chito’ Vera. However, the current 135 lbs rankings reflect Merab Dvalishvilli and Petr Yan to be in a superior spot than ‘Chito’. Besides, Aljamain Sterling can also earn an immediate title shot since he defended the belt thrice before the UFC 292 loss.
As for Conor McGregor, he is slated to face Michael Chandler next. Meanwhile, ‘Notorious’ has also outlined his BMF champion Justin Gaethje and Nate Diaz as his future opponents after ‘Iron’ Chandler. It remains to be seen what exactly turns out in reality for the UFC superstars.
