Since his last viral incident of flashing a gun on an Instagram livestream, Ja Morant has been more or less off the grid. Staying away from social media and allowing all the heat to die down as he continues to work on himself. As well as his relationship with the Memphis community, according to TMZ.
Morant’s not letting the fact he will serve a 25-game suspension to start the season stop him from making an impact in the lives of young athletes around him, who aspire to play for the NBA one day. The 2x All-Pro reportedly made an appearance at a basketball court in Memphis. The reactions on the kids’ faces were a pleasant treat to see. Shout out to Nike for helping make this happen.
There was plenty of fun to go around, and it just goes to show you that there’s more to Basketball than just watching the sport. From Morant’s monster dunk, to the kids hitting the griddy. They even walked away with not only new shoes & athletic gear, but also some sage advice from Morant:
“Believe in yourself,” Morant said. “You know have confidence in yourself.” “There’s going to be a lot of outside stuff that can distract you from your ultimate goal. Just stay locked in, tune it out, and stay true to yourself.”
Morant’s most recent viral clip of him flashing a firearm on Instagram came only two months after the initial gun-related incident involving him at a strip club in Denver back in the month of March. Despite all the negative feedback he was receiving from sports media about his conduct off the court, Nike made the decision to stick with the Grizzlies star. Not only that, but even help young man out by putting him in positions where he’s cast to media in a positive light.
A step in the right direction for Ja.
