Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has opened up about how he coped with the team’s Super Bowl 49 loss to the New England Patriots. According to Lynch while opening up to Kevin Hart, he had 76 cases of Hennessy and an entire resort to himself after Super Bowl 49 loss.
Marshawn Lynch apparently had a lot of fun at the resort following the team’s Super Bowl 49 loss. The defeat probably didn’t get to him that much hence having a blast life at the resort.
An old story about how former Seattle Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch coped with the team’s Super Bowl 49 loss to the New England Patriots has resurfaced.
You know the story by now. The Seahawks were half a yard away from winning their second straight Super Bowl. Rather than ask “Beast Mode” to pick up half a yard, Pete Carroll called for Russell Wilson to throw a slant to Ricardo Lockette.
Patriots’ corner Malcolm Butler read the play perfectly and intercepted the pass to ice the game. The Seahawks dropped a heartbreaker 28-24, and nearly nine years later, it remains the most boneheaded play call in NFL history by a country mile.
In a previous appearance on “Cold As Balls” (h/t Sportskeeda), Lynch stated that he drank around 15 cases of Hennessy to cope with the gut-wrenching defeat in the big game:
“So they had this little resort for us. I’m talking about, we blew that motherf***erdown, I’m talking about the whole resort bruh. They probably gave me, I think it was 76 cases, Hennessy, and it was probably I think it was like 12 bottles each case. How many cases I went through? I mean, realistically, probably had like 15 cases.”
Lynch was practically unstoppable throughout the contest, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. He also had a 31-yard reception on Seattle’s final drive that put them in position to win the game.
Unfortunately for the Seahawks, they never recovered from that loss. They never got past the Divisional Round with Lynch, Wilson and the Legion of Boom. As for the Patriots, they went on to win two more Super Bowls in the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era.
Lynch retired with 10,413 career rushing yards and 85 touchdowns.
That’s some serious chilling after a major loss to your opponent. Imagine if they had won the Super Bowl, they would have turned the entire resort upside down.
