In addition to defeating rival University of New Mexico earlier this month, quarterback Diego Pavia is also accused of peeing on the UNM emblem and appearing to have footage of the incident!
On September 16, local rivals New Mexico St. and UNM faced off; NMSU won 27-17. Their junior quarterback, Pavia, completed 9 of 14 passes for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Good game. Pavia, though, appears to have offered the groundskeepers assistance by (supposedly) watering the indoor turf? possibly feeling that he hadn’t done enough?
According to a video that was leaked, the quarterback, who was reportedly wearing sweats and no jersey, was seen peeing on the Lobo logo. Whether something occurred before or after the game is unclear.
Remains to be seen what action gets taken against Diego Pavia
Several days after the game, according to a UNM spokesperson who talked to the Albuquerque Journal, they learned about the video and alerted NMSU to the problem. In the event that Pavia is in trouble, which, let’s face it, he probably is, New Mexico State claims that they will not disclose any disciplinary material due to “federal privacy laws.”

Pavia, who started all five of NMSU’s games (they are 2-3) last season after splitting time as a freshman, including the team’s 20-17 setback to Hawaii on Saturday. While the quarterback is expected to be in the starting lineup for the Aggies’ game against FIU on Saturday, it’s unclear if Pavia will be benched as a result of the incident.
