Chandler Jones has been released by the Raiders, the organization announced on Saturday afternoon. Adam Schefter of ESPN provided the first report on the action.
After Jones was detained in Las Vegas late on Thursday night on suspicion of domestic abuse, the club made this choice. Schefter said,
“Raiders are releasing DE Chandler Jones, who was arrested yesterday in Las Vegas after a turbulent week, per a league source,“
“Jones has been away from the Raiders since Labor Day weekend and was placed on the NFI list on Sept. 20. He was arrested after allegedly violating a domestic violence temporary protective order. Jones posted on social media Monday that he was taken to a hospital ‘against my will’, and later transferred to a behavioral health facility.”

The veteran was released barely one day after the group, following his detention early on Friday, released the following statement:
“The Raiders are hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs. He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts. As this is now a legal matter, we will not be providing further comment,”
A slew of troubling social media posts and videos made by the XLIX Super Bowl champion over the past month have raised numerous questions about his mental health and wellbeing.
According to ESPN, Jones was freed from the Clark County Detention Center on Friday after posting bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on December 4.
