The late holding penalty on Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner on Sunday’s Chiefs-Jets game, which negated what would have been a significant interception for the Jets, was unquestionably the most contentious call. That call has been the subject of much discussion, and now Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is offering his opinion.
Kelce and his brother Jason discussed the call on the most recent episode of their New Heights podcast. The Kelce brothers appeared to concur that the decision was dubious and that officials shouldn’t make decisions like that late in games during crucial times.
Kelce said
“Every holding call I feel like is controversial… I think let the guys play through…”
“In my mind you just have to not put it in (the officials’) hands… Don’t even put it in the refs hands to make that f-g call.”

In addition, the Kelce brothers emphasized that officials do not view games in slow motion like many of us do thanks to instant replay.
The New York Jets experienced the worst possible realization on Sunday that officiating is difficult.
They weren’t the first team to suffer from poor officiating, and they won’t be the last either.
