Super Bowl Champion and Well-Liked Former Giants Player Rips Daniel Jones : “We Gotta Get A New Quarterback”

A fan favorite and former star of the New York Giants thinks it’s time for a change at the most crucial position in the game.

Victor Cruz, a former wide receiver for the Giants and a crucial member of their Super Bowl 46 winning squad, has demanded that New York replace quarterback Daniel Jones. The 26-year-old’s season ended on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders due to a ruptured ACL. He had signed a four-year agreement worth $160 million in the offseason.

Cruz said during an appearance on Craig Carton’s “The Carton Show” (via Michael Obermuller of Heavy.com) that the Giants should part with the 2019 first-round selection and look for a new quarterback in the offseason.

“In my opinion, I think we’ve got to go get a new quarterback. I think we’ve got to go and do the entire rebuild, re-franchise. It’s something just isn’t sitting right with this team…I think (head coach Brian) Daboll stays. I don’t think Daboll is the problem.”

In fact, Daboll is unlikely to leave after taking home Coach of the Year in his first year of employment. In the event that Daboll was fired, New York would have a fourth head coach in six years come 2024. It matters to be stable.

But in his five-year career, Jones has only had one respectable season (2022). Furthermore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the front management decides to let Jones go in the end, given that the Giants have a strong chance of selecting one of the many elite quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft.
