Joel Embiid Streak: 12 Games of 30+ Points and 10+ Rebounds, Echoes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Record

Joel Embiid’s dominance on the basketball court knows no bounds. Facing off against the formidable Minnesota Timberwolves, known for their top-rated defense, the reigning Kia MVP unleashed a performance for the ages. Embiid’s exceptional display included a season-high 51 points and 12 rebounds, propelling the Philadelphia 76ers to a resounding 127-113 victory.

Joel Embiid Makes History: 12-Game Streak of 30+ Points and 10+ Rebounds

This remarkable feat extends Embiid’s streak to 12 consecutive games with 30 or more points and 10 or more rebounds, a feat that has not been achieved since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar accomplished it in 16 straight games for the Milwaukee Bucks during the 1971-72 season. Joining the ranks of basketball legends, Embiid finds himself in the esteemed company of Hall of Famers such as Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, and Walt Bellamy, who have also achieved this remarkable feat.

While the statistics are undeniably impressive, Embiid remains focused on the ultimate goal: winning. In his own words, “We’re winning and that’s all that matters.” Despite his individual accomplishments, Embiid understands that personal success is only meaningful when it contributes to the team’s victories.

In addition to his historic streak, Embiid has etched his name in the franchise record books. Tying a longstanding record, he now shares the distinction with Chamberlain and Allen Iverson for the most consecutive games (five) with at least 35 points as a member of the 76ers. Furthermore, Embiid’s current streak of 13 games with 30 or more points is the longest since his former teammate, James Harden, achieved the same feat during the 2018-19 season, ultimately reaching an impressive 32-game streak.

Embiid’s recent performances have been nothing short of extraordinary. He has managed to score at least 40 points with 10 or more rebounds in three consecutive games, a feat previously accomplished only by Chamberlain in the illustrious history of the 76ers franchise.

Furthermore, Embiid’s exceptional scoring ability has led to seven career 50-point games, placing him in esteemed company alongside Dominique Wilkins as the 15th highest scorer of all time. Moreover, he joins Giannis Antetokounmpo as the only players with multiple 50-point games this season.

The month of December has been a showcase of Embiid’s brilliance. Averaging an astounding 40.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists while shooting an impressive 60.8% from the field, he has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. Embiid’s greatness extends beyond mere statistics, solidifying his status as one of the game’s most dominant forces.
