One of the few Super Bowl winners has been cut by the Buffalo Bills ahead of their Divisional Round matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Leonard Fournette, the running back who won Super Bowl 55, has been released by the Bills, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. On October 30, the Bills added the first-round selection from 2017 to their practice squad.

During the regular season, Fournette dressed for five games, but he only saw 12 carries for 40 yards. With 1,122 yards, James Cook emerged as the Bills’ top rusher, followed by dual-threat signal-caller Josh Allen, who gained 524 yards on the ground and a team-high 15 running touchdowns.
Leonard Fournette’s journey so far
Fournette‘s nickname, “Playoff Lenny,” stems from his reputation as a clutch postseason player. In his nine career postseason games, he has amassed 604 running yards and nine rushing touchdowns. He also scored four touchdowns in total—three on the ground and one through the air—during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl 55 title run.
But it appears like the myth of “Playoff Lenny” will be put on hold, at least for a year, unless another team decides to sign Fournette over the course of the next several days.
On Sunday, the Bills take on the Chiefs at Highmark Stadium at 6:30 p.m. EST.
