The Philadelphia 76ers were significantly undermanned when they faced the reigning champions on Saturday night. They were without four starters, yet they were able to keep things entertaining right up to the very finish. One of the best players in the NBA gave the supporting cast high marks after their heroic performance.
Following the Denver Nuggets‘ 111-105 victory, Nikola Jokic took questions from the media. Joel Embiid was the first person mentioned, as he was observed conversing with someone as the last buzzer went off. Embiid was a late scratch after warm-ups on Saturday, when he was originally scheduled to suit up.
Jokic talked about Embiid’s historic season and only had positive things to say about him. Jokic said,
“If you’re a basketball fan, the things that he is doing right now is historic and you need to appreciate it whether you like it,” “I think you need to appreciate what he’s doing, who he is putting in history right now.”Â

Jokic also gave a nod of appreciation to the team lacking players for persevering during this game. He mentioned the group’s many veterans as well as the younger players who seized the chance to play bigger roles. Jokic continued,
“They have a really professional bench, professional players that play in the league for such a long time and they have a couple of players who don’t play that much,” “They just wanted to show they can play. They fight.”Â
The Sixers need everyone to stand up and cover for the injured Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid. Paul Reed, who started at center, ended up becoming the game’s most notable player. With a 66.7% shooting percentage, he ended the game with 30 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals. Marcus Morris (17 points, four rebounds), Patrick Beverley (17 points, 11 assists), and Kelly Oubre (25 points) were some Sixers players that had a huge game.
