On Sunday, the Giants defeated the Eagles 27-10, and after his third reception, Sterling Shepard celebrated being inducted into the team’s record book.
After two seasons lost to a ruptured ACL and Achilles, he played only sporadically in his last year under contract. It’s now the end of his stint with the G-Men. The wide receiver for the New York Giants declared on social media on Tuesday that his time with the team was up.

Although Shepard hasn’t made his retirement public yet, it’s complicated by his dedication to raise his two girls in the region. Shepard has played with the Giants for the previous eight years, including two postseason visits. In 2016, he had a stellar rookie campaign with 65 receptions for 683 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns.
Shepard recorded a career-high 872 yards and four touchdowns in 2018. Shepard made seven appearances in 2021 before sustaining an Achilles tear. He tore his ACL in Week 3 of 2022. The Giants had great hopes for 2023 after an incredible 9-7-1 playoff campaign in 2022, but they ended up with a 6-11 record and third-place NFC East finish.
