On Sunday night, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions managed to stave off Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, 24–23.
Against the team that rejected him, Jared Goff completed a game-winning first down and threw for a touchdown, and the Detroit Lions won their first playoff game in thirty-two years.
Naturally, Goff and Stafford were traded for one another a few years ago, which added a compelling narrative to this NFC playoff game.
Shortly after the game ended, the two quarterbacks were able to reunite on the field, and audio from the encounter captured Stafford telling Goff, “I appreciate you, brother.”

Stafford finished 25 of 36 for 367 yards with two touchdowns. Puka Nacua, a rookie who set a record, caught nine passes for 181 yards and a touchdown.
Jared Goff completed 22 of 27 throws for 277 yards and a touchdown to overcome the team that cast him aside. The Lions won their first postseason game after losing nine straight since defeating Dallas on January 5, 1992.
For the first time in the team’s history, they will host two home playoff games starting next Sunday, when they play either Tampa Bay or Philadelphia in the divisional round. There is a good probability the squad will advance to the NFC Championship game.
